Book Review: The Little Flower Shop By The Sea By Ali McNamara

Name: The Little Flower Shop by the Sea
Author: Ali McNamara
Publisher: Sphere

Summary: Poppy Carmichael, 30, certainly never intended to own a florist. But when she inherits her grandmother's beloved flower shop on the beautiful Cornish coast, Poppy has no choice but to return to the pretty harbour town of St Felix where she spent much of her childhood.

Returning to St Felix brings back sad memories for Poppy. But when she makes new friends such as local flower grower Jake, a young widowed father of two teenagers, Poppy begins to overcome her fears, and discover for herself what's so special about this little flower shop by the sea.

Review: Firstly, I have to say that I am a huge fan of Ali's, every single book of hers I have adored. There is just something about the way she writes. I truly adored The Little Flower Shop by the Sea, it has all the makings of a great book. Awesome characters, twists and moments when you want to scream and shout at the characters. I was chatting with Ali on Twitter as I was reading and it took me a lot longer to read than I would have liked. I don't remember if I told you about the #Dryathlon challenge that I have been undertaking this September well because of that I had some crazy headaches which meant I couldn't read or write much, this was frustrating especially as I was enjoying getting to know Poppy Carmicheal, who is by far one of my favourite leading ladies. She is strong willed, she is troubled but is trying to get past this. Her friendship with Amber really changed her for the better and I loved getting to know them both. Both females so different but they definitely needed each other.

Jake - well I well and truly fell for Jake instantly and he and Poppy frustrated me so much but I knew if I kept the faith they would come good in the end. Every single one of us has a whole host of happy memories that often turn sad because of the loss of loved ones. This book made me think, we really cannot live in the past, that doesn't mean we forget our loved ones it just means we make the most of the life we have for them. St Felix sounds like a heart warming town, that I would love to visit, there were so many little touches that added to this book. Never judge anyone as you never know the story they could be hiding. I won't say too much but a huge character has a hidden secret and you won't see it coming trust me as I really didn't.

A real treat, that I would wholeheartedly recommend, I have already told Ali I want more from Poppy and Jake.

Until next time....
