Summary: Calla Tor has always known her destiny: After graduating from the Mountain School, she'll be the mate of sexy alpha wolf Ren Laroche and fight with him, side by side, ruling their pack and guarding sacred sites for the Keepers. But when she violates her masters' laws by saving a beautiful human boy out for a hike, Calla begins to question her fate, her existence, and the very essence of the world she has known. By following her heart, she might lose everything— including her own life. Is forbidden love worth the ultimate sacrifice?
Yes! Finally another book I could get into and fall in love with. Nightshade the 1st book in the Witches series is an amazing, heart wrenching beautiful take on werewolves that I have never seen before.
Lets start of on how amazing Andrea kept the whole wolf packs territorial present in this book. And how close she kept the actions and doings of an actually real wolf pack. From the Alphas eat first, Make the children, tell the other members of the pack what to do, and how the male alphas are dominant. I think in some novels about werewolves they trail off of that but Andrea kept true and I love it.
I love each and every character in this book. Shay for his understanding and love for Shay. Ren his sexy territorial self and how much he truly loves Calla. Ansel Callas awesome little brother who would die for her. Calla for her strong-minded self. And the rest of the pack all have their own personality's no one sounds like the other. Their not at all two dimensional. Usually if there is two many characters in a novel its hard to keep up with them all but i totally could because of how interesting Andrea made their personality's.
The plot was really interesting to me. Shay is trying to figure out who he is and Calla is trying to figure who she is and who she loves. I like through out the book your literally finding out everything the same time as the characters are so you can “OH” there was a lot of suspense and I was literally on the end of my seat waiting for the big “oh my god moment” and there was so MANY.
There was so many light hearted moments for example when the pack just had a scuffle in Eden (the bar) and Shay decided to do the tango with Calla to make everyone laugh. I love the balance of each chapter each paragraph and each sentence. I think Andrea can write make-out scenes amazingly. The way she describes their surrounds sounds so beautiful. There are a lot of twists and turns and things that happen that will make your jaw stay open for days. Its so hard not giving spoilers away but you have to buy this novel. This is defiantly one of my top books of 2011!
